About my work

|
In the beginning, I started my working life from a casino
where I had to work in different responsible positions as a Croupier, an Office
assistant and a Guest relation assistant. According to the Government rules of
Nepal, the casinos here are only meant for the foreigners due to which, I
happened to come in contact with people from different parts of the world.
Sometimes, I had to explain the casino clients about Tours and Travel in Nepal
upon being asked. Some foreign casino clients became my friends in that course.
I would take them for local sight seeing of the city free of charge each time
they came to Nepal. I was told by a majority of such foreign friends that I
could become a good tour guide if I wanted to but until then, the field of
Tourism was completely new to me, as I had not taken any training related to the
field of Tourism. More over, my college study was not based on Tourism.

Tourism was completely new to me, as I had not taken any training related to the
field of Tourism. More over, my college study was not based on Tourism.
Then, one day in the beginning of the year 1996, I contacted
the Himalayan Institute of Tourism Management based in Kathmandu. Then, this
institute was famous for Tourism based training and Manpower resources. It still
is. At the same point, I came to know that this Institute was going to start a 9
months long course on Tours and Treks Operation. I found myself eligible to
participate for the training and I did apply. Fortunately, I got through the
entrance exams and was selected for the training. Then, I quitted the job at the
casino and successfully completed the training in 9 months. I learnt a lot on
Himalayan Tourism through this institute during the training. Field operation,
Possibilities, Customer handling, Itinerary planning and Costing are a few
things I learnt from this training. They were much more though. Right after my
completion of the training, I stared getting job offers from different local
Travel agencies and I became directly involved in the field of Tourism. I am
still doing it. I am still working for various local Travel companies situated
in Kathmandu. Then, in the year 1997, I again took a 6 weeks long training on
Airlines Ticketing. During this training, I got an opportunity to learn about
the Global travel activities, World wide airlines network and different computer
reservation systems. This was my second completed training related to the
Tourism Industry.

Later, again in the year 1997, a 10 weeks long Tour Guide
training was going to be operated in the joint venture of the HMG of Nepal,
Ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation and the Himalayan Institute. I
was selected for it at applying and I completed the 10 weeks long Intensive
Training successfully. I got the license of a tour Guide from the HMG of Nepal,
Ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation which was the most significant
achievement for me. The thing which my foreign friends at the casino stated had
finally come true. Due to the license, I am a Government authorized and
certified Tour Guide today.
In this way,
I started my working life from a different direction, But at
present, I 'm working as
a Freelancer Tour Guide and a Tour Manager for 'Satyam Tours & Travel'. I intend to go on sharpening and improving this skill of mine in the future.

Although Nepal is a small country in area, it is known all
over the world for its vast Cultural and Natural diversity. This is why there is
always a long list of travel & tour related activities one can always choose
while in this country but Cultural tours, Himalayan treks & expeditions,
White water rafting and Wild life safari are some of the main activities
operated. I have worked for the above stated Tour related activities so far and
I am still up to it.

In the context of the Trekking operations, I have already
worked for the 3 major trekking regions in the country viz. the Everest region,
the Annapurna region and the Langtang region. As far as the 31st of July 2004, I led an approximate distance of 2700 kms. in the Himalayan
trails during the trekking course according to my calculation. Talking about the
Rafting operations conducted, I have done the Kali Gandaki river, the Trishuli
river and the Bhotekoshi river so far. Similarly, in the context of Wild life
safari, I have been to the Royal Chitwan National Park and the Royal Bardia
National Park leading groups as a jungle guide. I have also handled different
groups while cultural tours to outlying regions of Nepal as Pokhara, Gorkha,
Palpa, Janakpur, Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Daman, Kakani, Panauti, little historic
cities like Patan and Bhaktapur inside Kathmandu valley and many more including
all the seven world heritage sites (Cultural) situated in Kathmandu and the two
world heritage sites (Natural) viz. The Royal Chitwan National Park, The Everest
National Park, and the world heritage site (Religious), which is Lumbini where
Lord Buddha was born and brought up.

It takes a lot of time to specialize and be experienced in
each and every sorts of Travel & Tours activities in Nepal. Thus, I consider
myself a novice and still have a lot to learn in order of being an expert. I
will gradually produce myself before you as more experienced individual in the
days to come. I assure that I will do my work more skillfully in the future if I
were given opportunities by you. I expect to be co-operated by you all. If you
want an overall information on travel in Nepal, please visit "Nepal
Info" or you can e-mail me with the further confusions or questions should
you have any and I'll try and respond you with the relevant information as soon
as possible. Such inquiries would be greatly appreciated.

I invite you to be in
our Himalayan Tours, Adventure Travels, Trekking and other Outdoor Holiday
Activities with me through all the sacred and most beautiful sites of the
country to become enriched with the richness of your own. I heartily thank you for visiting this site. Please sign-up
